What does organic mean?
We are proud to stock both organic wool and organic cotton yarns. Organic farming uses less water and electricity. Soil and water are protected as toxic, synthetic pesticides and fertilisers are avoided (strict limits and measures are in place).
Organic wool
The sheep who produce our organic Merino wool are kept healthy through holistic farming and they graze on organic pastures with non-GMO or genetically modified plants. The wool fibres are cleaned and processed without chlorine, formaldehyde or toxic dyes - this ensures the wool retains its natural softness.
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown under strict controls around the use of toxic, synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. The seeds grown are not genetically modified. The processing of the organic cotton fibres also limits the use of toxic chemicals.
