Wool

We sell a wide range of different wool fibres. You can filter for the different options to help narrow your yarn search, using the options in the filter menus.

Our Superwash Merino Wool comes from South America and is superwash treated in Europe to the highest OEKO-TEX® standard. Our standard Merino quality is 21.5 microns, unless otherwise stated.

Our Bluefaced Leicester Wool is British. It comes from small farms across the UK but particularly in Wales, and is purchased through the British Wool Marketing Board. The fibres are then scoured and superwash treated in the UK to the highest possible environmental standards. Our Bluefaced Leicester fibre has a micron count of 26.5.

We also have yarns that use Superwash Falkland Merino Wool. This is slightly whiter than our standard Merino wool.

Our Non-Superwash Merino Wool comes from South America and this has a standard quality of 20.5 microns unless otherwise stated.

Our Peruvian Highland Wool is a non-superwash wool, sourced from small farms in the Peruvian mountains. It comes from a Corriedale-Merino cross-breed of sheep that live at high altitude. The environment in which they live produces a wool that is dry, crimpy and durable. Unless otherwise stated, Highland Wool is 27 microns.

Our Enzyme-Treated Merino Wool is produced in Peru. This is a 21.5 micron Merino wool fibre which has had an environmentally-friendly enzyme treatment. This results in improved dye uptake when compared to non-superwash fibre. Colours appear brighter and are more similar to superwash yarns. The yarn will not shrink quite as much compared to classic non-superwash yarns.
